I've raised hundreds of millions of dollars for STEM Education, medical research, social justice, arts and culture, and higher education. Not all by myself, of course! Along with other leaders, donors, beneficiaries, and communities, I've indeed made the world a better place.
I'm a hopeless nerd about social psychology and have been this way since I was a latchkey kid running home from school to eat peanut butter out of the jar and watch the Oprah Show.
I like to imagine that if Brene Brown and Gary Vaynerchuck had a development officer lovechild, that would be me. One can dream.....although my parents are the bomb.
The greatest joy of my career is working with development colleagues to build their skillset, master their mindset, and learn to lead from where they are. I truly get so much joy from working with people like you.
So I created the Empowered Fundraiser during the pandemic.
At that time, the country was reeling from the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. I decided it was time for me to deeply understand my role in systemic racism. I quickly learned that I must use my many privileges to advance progress in anti-racism.
