I'm 25 years into my career as a happy fundraiser-turned-educator, coach, and course creator.
One thing I know FOR SURE is that the way we talk about donor visits is based on what worked decades ago. Not what's actually working today.
Philanthropy is changing FAST--the big training companies can't keep up. So I created this course myself. I teach what's relevant, effective, and equitable today because we don't have time for the industry to catch up.
You are poised to make a positive impact on the world while building a rewarding career and I'm so here for it.
Let's work together. Add your name to the waitlist and let's go. :)
Face-to-face visits are not the gold standard they used to be.
It doesn't matter where or when these conversations take place.
We need open, honest, productive conversations with solid follow-through.
We deserve to like our jobs and feel comfortable in our own skin.
We need to manage huge portfolios without a ton of stress.
I pretty much stopped REALLY learning things when the pandemic forced us to live over Zoom. I wanted better for myself--and for my students.
Cohort-based courses allow me to be super engaged with you. It's a two-way learning experience.
I LOVE connecting awesome colleagues with one another. You'll meet people who you adore and who will help you future-proof your career (and vice-versa)
The fast pace is bliss for people with short attention spans (like most development officers!)
I love that I can support you asynchronously as well. You'll watch videos and have reading assignments between classes, and you can tackle those when your schedule allows.
Secure truly effective donor conversations (what we used to call “visits”);
Set the table for open, honest conversation focused on philanthropy;
Facilitate outcomes-based convos to optimize that time with donors;
Follow-up with a strong call to action and accountability;
Scale these steps to your whole portfolio.
You work on metrics
It's a struggle to book your calendar with visits
You have good visits, but your proposals are lagging
Your follow up is more like a series of pings
You're awesome at working with one donor at a time....
but you have a big portfolio
YOU'RE BURNED OUT
The power of cohort-based courses lies in the accountability, live interactions, small group learning via breakout rooms, chat, silent writing, avalanches, popcorn, and everything other than me droning at you. I facilitate lots of "state changes" to keep things clipping along and avoid Zoom Zombie effect. I cannot even tell you how much I adore my besties from cohort-based courses I've taken myself! I graduated from Wes Kao's Accelerator program--MAVEN--in October along with 120 other elite experts in our fields. Maven is the epicenter of research on how adults really learn. I was trained by the best in the business.
It's likely. Here is a form you can use to request reimbursement:
This is TBD, but the magic of a cohort based course is in group interaction. We don't recommend planning to take this as an asynchronous course.
I'm happy to do brief 1:1check ins with my students! Deeper work is via the Empower Hour program.
Yes. If you show up authentically and put in the effort, and you are unsatisfied with your outcomes, we'll talk about next steps. I may offer you 1:1 time, supplementary information, invitations to co-working sessions or a refund. We'll work together on this.
Space is limited in each cohort.
